26 – 30 March 2018 – KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
We went for a family weekend to see our niece perform in Music in the Mountains, a weekend festival of music at the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School. For convenience we camped at Dragon’s Peak Mountain Resort in the Central Drakensberg, right next door to the School.
There is lots for everyone to do from walks, MTB, canoeing, tubing down the river, fishing, horse-riding and hiking. There is an adventure centre with some cool zip lines. A massive pool provides welcome respite from the heat in the summer.
Camping R250 for adults and half price for kids under 16 half price. Campsite is electrified and ablutions clean and there are plenty of them.
Did a couple of day trips one to Falcon Ridge – Bird Of Prey Centre – really worth a visit. https://goo.gl/maps/4fReBNGRbwL2
The other to Drakensberg Brewery – nice way to spend a lazy almost autumn afternoon – https://www.drakbrew.co.za/
A fully equipped shop with everything one needs is situated at the entrance to the campsite, and the world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir hold regular concerts – catch one of you can – they are superb. http://dbchoir.com/web/
A great long weekend away for the whole family.
